01 — Biography
I'm an architect from Athens, working in the space between architecture and art. I observe space keenly — its structure, its shadows, its reflections — and try to give that observation a form you can stand inside or stand before.
The essay
Tsouma Chrysanthi, an architect from Athens born in 1975, began her studies in 1999 at the Technical Institute of Athens, specializing in Graphic Arts and Decoration. She later pursued a degree in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2005.
The two trainings never sat apart. Graphic art taught me to compose; architecture taught me to build. Today they are one hand: I read buildings the way I read an image, and I make images with the structure of a building.
What brings inspiration is observation itself — the discipline of looking before making. I keep returning to composition, structure, shape, shadow, and reflection, and I channel them into work that blurs the line between art and architecture.

Philosophy
Observe, don't merely see.
I'd rather a viewer understand an idea than admire an object. So I experiment — photo details printed on velvet, installations in the same material — looking for the moment a surface stops being a surface and becomes a feeling. Nothing is decorative for its own sake. Everything is composed with intention.
